it's so freeing to just work in your art journal and don't think too much about the outcome. just grab your paint, inks, pens, paint markers and anything you need, put on some lovely music and just go!
i know that music helps me relax & just get started ALL the time. sometimes i just don't feel like creating, but i know i'll feel better after i can just MAKE something. when i walk in my room, look at all the colors and start to THINK what to make, it simplt doesn't work. i don't need to THINK. i just need to ACT. i put on my imac for itunes (yup, that imac is so old, i only use it for itunes...). turn on the music and get my paint and stuff out. when the music starts, i immediately have this relaxing feeling over me. i don't need to create for anybody else BUT ME. it's okay to make stuff I ONLY LIKE. it's okay to try, test, figure out and start over. it's okay to dislike my work, it's okay to be totally in love with it. it's okay to just make something, it's okay to start a master piece. it's okay to TAKE TIME for yourself to do stuff you like. it's okay to have ME TIME.it's okay to create the same stuff over and over and over and even over again. it's okay. don't let anybody tell you otherwise. certainly not that stupid inner critic who has her opinion of everything and anything you do.
what music i listen to while creating? ohhh so many different artists: adele, coldplay, matt simons, ellie goulding, keane, avicii, armin van buuren, daft punk, gavin de graw, john lennon, george ezra, jason mraz, john legend, justin bieber (yes, i admit it), maaike ouboter, mr. probz, dotan, miss montreal, robbie williams, pharell williams, sam smith, taylor swift, racoon. to name just a few :)
so. what will you do next if you WANT TO create but don't feel like. yes. TURN ON THAT MUSIC!
life is good. music is a lifeline.
